I had my first big test and I feel like I failed.
After you go off your eating plan, write an entry in your journal. Use it as a learning experience. Ask yourself, why you ate the item. Was it mindless, boredom, stress, etc. Then, think of a way you can change that behavior. Like, there is not enough bean dip for others, so I will dump some water on it. I am the only one that will eat the dip tonight, or tomorrow. Everyone else is finished with it, throw it away. My husband has a pizza in the frig. He has it covered in tin foil, I know it is there, but I don't see it. However, yesterday my granddaughter left a 1/2 piece of pizza in her car seat. It was hard, but I almost ate it. I knew not to eat the pizza in the frig, but cleaning my car, I almost ate it. Afterward, I laughed, but at the time, I wanted it. So, today I have another success in my pocket. The fact that you are concerned is great, you will make a change.

My husband and I are both snack people. I know it's not fair to him to ask to give up snacking for the foreseeable future, so I've asked him to stick to things I wouldn't like (weird flavored chips, etc) and that has been working well for us. I'm not tempted by his jalapeño/red hot/siracha-flavored nonsense.

I agree completely with this, Nerdy Girl!! When my husband wants a treat, I'll go buy him a shoo-fly pie (I live in Lancaster, PA!!) or carrot cake because I don't like either. If he wants chocolate chip cookies, then he's got to get them himself because I don't want them calling to me. I don't have small kids in the house any longer, but I'm a firm believer in not having junk in the house. It didn't stop me from getting fat (I would go and buy and secretly eat while I was out, but 27 year old has always been a normal weight!
